Data Center Siting
Forecast Hypothesis

I prompted ChatGPT Plus to: "Build the best forecasting framework you can for identifying likely future hyperscale data center locations in the U.S. Use whatever datasets you think are most predictive, and explain why you chose them."  The following doc, from 8/1/2026, is the first iteration of a response.  It can certainly and should be refined, but I'm posting it here because it contains a great deal of potentially useful information.  You are welcome to build on this prompt, if desired.  I have added a Glossary at the end, as the acronyms are thick.  There is also a link to one chapter from my favorite intro-to-engineering book.

Just as an aside, this might be of special interest to those being offered data center opportunities: 

"A project can require enormous capital and power while supporting relatively few permanent workers. Employment claims may help identify promotional activity but are weak siting predictors."  They are also not good indicators of future performance....
